Hoop dreams
The Trailside Boys &Girls Club of Snohomish County is planning a community celebration of its newly built basketball court from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at 1300 100th Place SE, Everett, near Everett Mall.
The event will include a barbecue, raffle prizes and a bouncy house.
The Trailside Boys &Girls Club opened in 2007 and has offered free memberships to all youths 5-18 years of age. The club is the smallest in the country and has not had a dependable outdoor facility or basketball court for children to safely play on.
Kevin McKay, vice president for finance and operations at Edmonds Community College, reached out to Seattle-based McKinstry, a consulting, construction, energy and facility services company, for support.
Blood drive: People are being asked to donate blood from 8 to 11 a.m. Thursday at an event hosted by Snohomish County Fire District 7 and the Puget Sound Blood Center at the fire district’s headquarters, 8010 180th St. SE, Snohomish.
