New playground at Lynnwood school
A new playground has opened at Cedar Valley Community School in Lynnwood. The playground cost $81,000 and is about 20 by 80 feet. The work wrapped up in early October, according to the Edmonds School District. Features include a climbing wall, slides and a balance bridge.
Fire talks continue: Merger talks continue between Snohomish County Fire District 3 in Monroe and Fire District 7, based in Clearview. The districts are working together on a temporary contract to merge their administrations, officials said Wednesday. The two share a border along the Snohomish River and, if merged, would cover a total of 115 square miles. Meanwhile in Clearview, the new fire station planned for Fales Road remains in the design and budgeting stage.
Mill Creek to search for chief: The city of Mill Creek is recruiting for its next police chief as Bob Crannell prepares to retire next month. Officials are seeking candidates with good leadership and communication skills. The job pays up to $130,000 a year plus benefits.
The police department has 33 employees, including 25 officers. Applications are due Dec. 4, with interviews to follow in January. The city aims to hire someone by mid-February.
Crannell joined the department in 1986 and has been chief since 2000.
