I-5 lane closures
The first of several planned weekend lane closures to grind down and repair southbound I-5 between Everett and Marysville is set to begin Friday night.
Crews are scheduled to close one lane at 7 p.m. and the second lane at 11 p.m. to grind and repair the bridge decks on the section of I-5 that crosses over Highway 529. Two lanes are planned to be closed nightly Saturday through Monday morning.
The work is part of a project to repair and repave four miles of damaged pavement between Highway 528 in Marysville and the Snohomish River Bridge in Everett.
Free recycling: Bring electronics to recycle to Edmonds Lutheran Church, 23525 84th Ave. W. in Edmonds.
The event is planned for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
All recycling of electronics is free, if the item is working or not. Proceeds from recycled raw materials help charities and food banks.
Bring a donation, if you wish, to benefit youth missions of the church.
Summer concert and movie series begin: The Marysville Parks and Recreation’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series and Sounds of Summer Movie Series start Friday night and Saturday.
The Sammy Steele Band is scheduled to perform modern country and blues music at 7 p.m. Friday at Jenning’s Park, 6915 Armar Road.
A free screening of the movie, “How to Train Your Dragon,” is planned at 9 p.m. Saturday at Jenning’s Park.
The free concert and movie screening is sponsored by Waste Management.
