Front Porch: Overnight closure for westbound U.S. 2

U.S. 2 closure

Westbound U.S. 2 between Highway 9 and the Bickford Avenue overpass is expected to close from 8 p.m. tonight to 5 a.m. Friday for repair work.

The Highway 9 onramp to westbound U.S. 2 is also scheduled to close.

The Bickford Avenue onramp to westbound U.S. 2 will remain open. A signed detour via Highway 9 and Highway 204 is planned.

During the closure, contractor crews for the state Department of Transportation will replace an attenuator at the Bickford Avenue overpass that was damaged in a collision last week. An attenuator absorbs the impact when a vehicle collides with a solid object.
