The San Francisco-based Philippine Consulate General is presenting an opportunity for Snohomish County’s 18,000 Filipino citizens to vote and receive consular services in downtown Everett.
Services offered during the event include passport renewals, notarization of documents, registering births or marriages, filing for dual citizenship and registering to vote. Appointments required; call Eddie Abellera at 206-972-1065.
Consular Outreach is set for 8 a.m.-5 p.m. April 8-10 at the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway, Everett.
Ballots for May’s national elections also can be cast during the event. All registered voters under the Consulate General’s jurisdiction may claim and submit their ballots with field voting officers during these dates. Fundraiser for firefighter: Snohomish firefighter and paramedic Dave Alberts, 57, is undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. He is facing $55,000 in out-of-pocket costs for 44 sessions of proton therapy, a newer form of radiation.
More men need to be tested for prostate cancer, Alberts said. Early detection might have saved his life.
He has been with Snohomish County Fire District 4 in Snohomish since 2007. Firefighters are believed to have a higher risk for prostate cancer because of the chemicals found at fires and in smoke.
An online fundraiser is at www.gofundme.com/teamdavea.
