Plans for new school
Work continues on plans for a new elementary school near Lake Stickney in the Mukilteo School District. The school board Monday received an engineering report related to the construction. The project still is in the design phase, according to the district newsletter.
Coaches vs. cancer: People are urged to wear orange to the basketball game at Archbishop Murphy High School on Friday to honor a junior who is battling cancer.
The basketball team is playing Granite Falls High School in the Coaches vs. Cancer game. It is intended to raise money for research and support for those affected by the disease.
Each team is to choose an honorary coach. That person may have suffered from cancer or have a relative who has. The seat also may remain empty in memory of cancer victims.
Junior Sam Myers is Archbishop’s honorary coach. He was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in the fall. He is being treated at Seattle Children’s Hospital.
Make a plan for Sunday night: The Washington State Patrol urges Seahawks fans to make plans to get home safely if they plan to party on Super Bowl Sunday. DUI fines can be thousands of dollars, according to a news release.
A designated driver, a taxi and public transit are good options.
“The Seahawks had a plan for getting to the Super Bowl,” the release said. “You need a plan for getting home.”
