Ribbon-removal
A work party is scheduled Saturday to remove the red-and-white ribbon adorning Marysville that was placed to show support for the students of Marysville Pilchuck High School last month. The organization Snohomish County Crime &Community planned the removal to make way for holiday decor.
Volunteers are to meet at 2 p.m. at Comeford Park, 514 Delta Ave., in Marysville, and are asked to bring scissors. Garbage bags and disposal bins will be provided.
“Although the ribbons will come down, our unity perseveres,” the organization said.
Ferry travel next week: Ferry riders are reminded to plan ahead for travel during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The longest lines are expected westbound Wednesday afternoon and evening and eastbound Friday morning. Some routes will be on a holiday schedule Thursday.
Check the Washington State Ferries website at www.wsdot.wa.gov/ferries for details and wait times.
Tree lighting: Join the city of Mill Creek’s annual holiday tree lighting Dec. 6. The Voices Northwest Choir begins the event at 3:45 p.m., followed by the Jackson High School Drumline. Mayor Pam Pruitt and a special guest will help flip the switch to light the tree at 4:30 p.m.
Following the tree lighting, the Jackson High School Jazz Band will perform at City Hall Annex. Among other activities, there will be complimentary carriage rides at 15720 Main St. and Santa will be available for photos at City Hall.
