No carjackings
A rumor of attempted carjackings along 112th Street SW in Everett has been proven to be a hoax, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office reported Tuesday. The persistent rumor circulated on social media, alleging that Boeing employees were being targeted by pedestrians in the road who then tried to steal their cars. The information being circulated was false, according to police.
Be ready for disasters: Snohomish County Fire District 1 plans a disaster preparedness event March 15 at Edmonds Community College. The free event, called “Count Me In When Disaster Strikes,” will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Earthquakes and tsunamis will be among the topics discussed. Firefighters and other emergency personnel will be available to answer questions specific to south county.
Best chowder: Several local restaurants will compete to win “BEST Clam Chowder in Edmonds” from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event will be at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 326 Admiral Way. Voting will determine the People’s Choice Award for Best Traditional and Best Cutting-Edge Chowder. There also will be a judged category. Entrants include Ivar’s, Chanterelle, Scott’s Bar &Grill, Soup’s On Café, and Here &There Anywhere Grill. Admission to the family-friendly event is $10, which gets attendees tastes of chowder from all participating restaurants and a voting card. The event is sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce.
