The annual Edmonds sand sculpting contest, one of the county’s sure signs of summer, is scheduled for July 17. The event will be held at Marina Beach, 470 Admiral Way. Form a team or build on your own. The amateur contest is open to all ages and it’s free. Volunteers needed: The Everett Public Schools Foundation sponsors its annual Stuff the Bus for Kids school supply drive Aug. 14-16 and seeks volunteers. All donations will help the Foundation’s goal of delivering 1,700 filled backpacks to needy students in time for classes this fall.

Toys for Tots collecting donations: The Snohomish County branch of Toys for Tots plans to collect donations of backpacks, school supplies and toys from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the WalMart in Tulalip.
The nonprofit helps provide kids from low-income families with the supplies they need for school and also with gifts during the holidays. For more information, contact Toys for Tots Local Community Organizer Mary Butler at 425-309-0047.
