‘Sawdust Empire’
The Lake Stevens Historical Society is hosting author J.D. Howard to talk about and sign his book, “Sawdust Empire.” The book is set in Everett and centers on the tensions that built up toward the Everett Massacre in 1916. The event is set for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Stevens School District Office, 12309 22nd St. NE.
More room for golfers: A plan to add up to 60 parking stalls at the Lynnwood Municipal Golf Course still is moving along. The City Council has been asked to review proposed contracts with two Skagit County vendors for a total of about $362,400. The project is budgeted at $538,147, according to council documents. Construction is expected to start in the months ahead.
Lynnwood park changes: The Lynnwood City Council is considering changes to park rules that would allow for more pea patches and community gardens. The proposed changes would make room for gardening and farming in designated areas of city-owned property. The measure was scheduled for council discussion this week.
Lighthouse fest help: Volunteers are gearing up for the Mukilteo Lighthouse Festival and welcome more help. The next monthly meeting is set for 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Chamber of Commerce, 4902 76th St. SW. For more information, call 425-353-5516.
