Shred stuff in Sultan
A free paper shredding event is planned Friday and Saturday in Sultan.
Take bills, medical records, private information or other paperwork from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. both days to First Street and Alder Avenue in Sultan.
The city of Sultan organized the sh
redding and paid for it through a grant from the Washington state Department of Ecology.
The purpose is to reduce paper in landfills. The shredded paper will be recycled.
Ride a steam train: A limited number of tickets are available for two steam-hauled passenger train trips between Portland and Tacoma.
These trips will be hauled by the Daylight Steam locomotive, SP 4449.
These trips are operated in conjunction with the National Railway Historical Society annual convention, Cascade Rails 2011, to be held next week in Tacoma.
The first trip leaves Portland on Tuesday and the second leaves Tacoma on June 26 for Portland.
Tickets are $139 to $239.

Attend Constitution classes: Teens are invited to study the U.S. Constitution this summer.
Lessons are based on the book “The 5,000 Year Leap: Principles of Freedom 101,” by W. Cleon Skousen. The course is for ages 12 to 18. Classes are from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, June 28 through Aug. 30, at the Marysville Library, 6120 Grove St. in Marysville.
