Mountlake Terrace city manager John Caulfield and other city officials invite folks to join them for a cup of coffee and hear first-hand what’s happening in the city.

Lower flags: Gov. Chris Gregoire says that flags at all state agencies should be lowered to half-staff in honor of Pierce County Deputy Kent Mundell, who died from wounds suffered in an officer-involved shooting.

Flags should remain at half-staff until closing time today or first thing Wednesday morning.

Learn how to build a business: The city of Sultan and Sky Valley Chamber of Commerce aim to help new and future business owners.

A series of free workshops are planned during Business 101 — For Start-Up Businesses. The first one is offered at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 15 at the Sultan Visitor Information Center, 320 Main St.

  • Information on free resources
  • Steps to writing a business plan
  • Locating business counseling.

    The facilitator, Sultan Mayor Carolyn Eslick, has 30 years of business and six years of business counseling experience.
