Travel ‘Triton Way’
The city of Lynnwood plans to rename a portion of 204th Street SW “Triton Way” in honor of Edmonds Community College’s upcoming 50th anniversary celebration.
The renaming is for ceremony purposes, and the street will keep its formal name. The affected stretch is between Highway 99 and 68th Avenue W. The college celebration starts with a kick-off event Sept. 16. The triton is the college’s mascot. EdCC was founded in 1967.
No word on fire cause: The investigation into the devastating July 22 fire in downtown Bothell is ongoing. The city fire department is waiting on a report from the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a spokeswoman said Monday. That report is likely to take another couple of weeks. Early after the fire, officials cautioned that the cause may never be known. Buildings and businesses were destroyed. No one was injured. A website to track community recovery efforts can be found at www.bothellwa.gov/FireRecovery.
Pancakes with the mayor: Stanwood Mayor Leonard Kelley is looking to gather ideas and questions about Stanwood from the children who live there. He wants to have a pancake breakfast and talk with eight kids ages 9 to 12. Parents can register their kids for a spot by emailing amanda.slattery@ci.stanwood.wa.us. The breakfasts are expected to be at a local restaurant on Aug. 17 and Aug. 24 from 9 to 9:45 a.m.
