Front Porch: Work in the woods Saturday

Volunteers will meet at the Reiter Foothills gravel parking area for a work party from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Led by the Department of Natural Resources, the group will work on two water crossings. The work is key to reopening the foothills, a popular site for off-road vehicle use that was closed for restoration in November.

Bring rakes, shovels and gloves, along with food and water for lunch. Organizers said they need high-clearance pickups and quad off-road vehicles with trailers.
