WSU breaks ground on Everett building
The public is invited to be on hand Tuesday when Washington State University leaders break ground on the future Everett University Center.
The four-story building is expected to open in 2017. It will house classes offered by WSU and other colleges that are part of the University Center consortium operating on the Everett Community College campus.
The building will be constructed on EvCC-owned land in the College Plaza shopping center.
The free event begins at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at 911 North Broadway in Everett.
Volunteers sought: Edmonds is seeking volunteers for its Historic Preservation Commission. Applicants must live in the city, have a demonstrated interest in historic preservation, and have qualities of impartiality and good judgment. One of the current openings is for a professional who has experience in identifying, evaluating, and protecting historic resources and a background in one of the following: history, architecture, architectural history, historic preservation, planning, cultural anthropology, archaeology, cultural geography, American studies, law, or real estate.
The commission serves as the city’s primary resource in matters of history, historic planning and preservation. The group meets the second Thursday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall. Applications are available in the lobby of City Hall, 121 5th Ave. N., or by calling 425-771-0247.
