EVERETT — An Everett man was arrested after police say he tried on Saturday to set his girlfriend’s house on fire.
An argument started when the man returned his girlfriend’s car later than agreed, according to a police affidavit filed Tuesday in Everett District Court.
The man, 35, became violent and slammed the woman’s head into a door and a filing cabinet, the court document said. The woman’s cousin arrived and the man allegedly hit her, causing her to lose her hearing.
The man told police that’s when he lit the house in the 2100 block of Walnut Street on fire, the court document said. He also threatened to kill the woman by slitting her throat. The fire didn’t cause extensive damage.
Both women were taken to the hospital, the court document said.
Police said the man has a long criminal history.
He was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree arson, second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and harassment.
