BREMERTON — More than $90 million has been approved for multiple improvement projects at Naval Base Kitsap.
The Kitsap Sun reported that the funding is part of more than $1 trillion approved by Congress Friday in the military construction budget.
Under the legislation, $47 million will go toward a land-water interface and a 20,000-square-foot ship maintenance support facility at Bangor. In Bremerton, nearly $23 million will be used to modernize Dry Dock 6 and for utility improvements.
More than $21 million will support a Port Angeles forward operating location. The Navy plans to build a pier there along with support facilities for Coast Guard ships and crews that escort ballistic-missile submarines.
The work is expected to be completed in 2018.
