Work starting on new I-5 HOV lanes
Drivers heading north on I-5 between Lowell Road and 41st Street in Everett will use three new lanes created Tuesday night and into this morning in the first step of a multiyear plan that will bring HOV lanes and a new Broadway exit.
The new lanes were created 6 feet to the right of the original lanes to allow for a workspace. The lanes will be moved back and forth during the project until May, when the new Broadway exit opens.
State Department of Transportation officials said drivers should expect to be limited to one or two lanes between 10 tonight and 5 a.m. Thursday as crews place barriers along I-5.
