The seventh annual Chihuahua Gathering was a howling success. We wrote about the event on Page B1 July 17.
Thousands of dollars were raised to assist injured, abandoned and rescued Chihuahua dogs from the Pacific Northwest.
Scooter, a paralyzed Chihuahua, will get a tiny customized wheelchair. The funds will also pay off more than $700 in veterinary bills for other Chihuahuas.
Bid on your own slice of America
The state Department of Natural Resources plans an auction at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Henry M. Jackson Room at the Snohomish County Administration Building, 3000 Rockefeller Ave., Everett. Scattered parcels of land will be for sale, six in King County and one in Snohomish County.
“These small parcels are perfect for homes or business,” Commissioner of Public Lands Doug Sutherland said.
The parcel in Snohomish County is a lot three miles south of Paine Field.
Chug to Mariner games in style
Watch the tracks. Sound Transit’s Sounder “Home Run Special” debuts a snazzy new engine today in Seattle. In its third season, the Home Run Special carries Seattle Mariner fans to Safeco Field for weekend home games.
The new locomotive combines Sound Transit’s wave design with the Mariners’ compass rose. After today, it will be in rotation on Everett and Edmonds stops.

Correction
Marysville Floral Inc. owners Janna Mitchell and Nicole Walker presented Gov. Christine Gregoire with a corsage Saturday when the governor visited their shop during a stop in the city. The corsage was a gift to honor her as the first governor to visit their shop during the 30 years they’ve been in business, and for her to wear to a business dinner in Everett that night. A story on Page B3 Sunday incorrectly listed the corsage as an item that was purchased at the store.
