For all the nice folks who left out food for the National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger drive in May, you did great.
Around the nation, letter carriers collected 71,301,210 pounds of food, which was delivered to local food banks and shelters.
State time capsule to be buried again
During the recent renovation of earthquake-damaged buildings in Olympia, a time capsule created in 1953 was discovered.
According to state records, the capsule is filled with newspapers, letters addressed to future generations and items from the 1953 Legislature. The complete contents will remain a mystery until the Washington territorial bicentennial in 2053.
The capsule will be buried again this morning.
Hands needed along Mukilteo Boulevard
Volunteers are needed from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday to help plant 40,000 begonias and other flowers in 15,000 square feet of beds along Mukilteo Boulevard in Everett.
Volunteers can catch a free shuttle to and from the View Ridge Plaza parking lot west of Forest Park at the three-way intersection of Mukilteo and Olympic boulevards and Dogwood Drive. Volunteers may register as they arrive any time during the event, and plant as little or as much as they like.

A Bellingham software company, EDA Inc., offers GradPages.com to create a personalized site honoring graduates.
There’s an online yearbook for guests to sign, a place for pictures and a biography.
Once a GradPage has been created, you can send out an unlimited number of invitations to friends and family members so they can post their own photos, sign the yearbook, check the wish list and send congratulations.
The cost starts at $6 a month.
