Camping? Don’t bring fireworks
Visitors to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest this weekend are reminded that possessing fireworks of any kind is illegal on all federal and state-managed public lands in Washington.
“If you plan on going camping in the forest during the Fourth of July weekend, do not bring fireworks with you,” said Dave Johnson, fire management officer for the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. “We all need to be careful and to celebrate with safety as a number one priority.”
The U.S. Forest Service advises using extreme care with campfires and making sure embers are completely out and cold to the touch before leaving a campsite. Discarded cigarettes can also cause fires, so forest users are asked to use vehicle ashtrays to dispose of butts.
