Words on which to reflect this day
“And another reason that I’m happy to live in this period is that we have been forced to a point where we’re going to have to grapple with the problems that men have been trying to grapple with through history, but the demand didn’t force them to do it.
“Survival demands that we grapple with them. Men, for years now, have been talking about war and peace. But now, no longer can they just talk about it. It is no longer a choice between violence and nonviolence in this world; it’s nonviolence or nonexistence.”
From a speech by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., April 3, 1968, the day before he was assassinated.

Nonprofit group needs your help
If you saw “The Real Inside Story” while in middle or high school and it persuaded you to refrain from drug and alcohol abuse and tobacco use, the group would like to hear from you.
The program uses human organs to show the effect of substance abuse, part of anti-tobacco and anti-alcohol efforts taught in area schools. Since 1989, the group has received letters from youths, teachers, and principals describing the effect the presentation had on them.
