Friends of Camano Island Parks offers a free program, “Birds of Camano and Where to Find Them” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Camano Center, 141 E. Camano Drive.
Speakers Pam Pritzl and John Edison are involved with a heron project at Davis Slough, and both have been watching birds for 20 years. Gardening information and assistance with landscaping for wildlife will be available.
Those who certify their yards as backyard wildlife habitats will receive a free bird house, native plant or suet. Camano has about 400 registered backyard wildlife habitats.

Retirement party to honor teachers
A party is planned to honor two retiring Kent Prairie Elementary School teachers in Arlington.
All former colleagues and students of Mike Bolton and Janet Carlson are invited to a retirement party at 4 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Kent Prairie Library, 8110 207th St. NE, Arlington.
Inaugural stamps available
Presidential campaign memorabilia, patriotism and flag history will be highlighted Thursday when the U.S. Postal Service issues an inaugural keepsake set.
The set includes an inaugural envelope with photographs of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney, a 26-page stamp booklet about flag history and twenty 37-cent stamps.
