Civil War veterans remembered today
Wreaths will be laid, muskets fired and taps played as men in blue and gray uniforms gather in Everett today to remember Civil War veterans who lived on Snohomish County.
As part of the event, Everett historian David Dilgard is scheduled to lead a tour of many of their graves at 1 p.m. today at the Evergreen Cemetery, 4405 Broadway in Everett.
At least 155 Civil War veterans are buried at Evergreen Cemetery. The free event, from noon to 3 p.m., includes a ceremony with cannon and musket salutes and displays of Civil War artifacts. More info: 425-252-2244.
Car washes to help Snohomish JROTC
The Snohomish High School JROTC Parents Association hosts its first fundraiser of the school year with two car washes today.
The volunteers will be at 1 p.m. at the Snohomish Inn, 323 Second Ave., Snohomish, and at 1:30 p.m. at Washington Mutual Bank, 18751 U.S. 2, Monroe.
Granite Falls to fill school board job
After seven years on the Granite Falls School Board, Becky Brown has stepped down and the district is looking for her replacement. Brown resigned Sept. 3. The school board is accepting applications for Board Director District No. 2.
Applicants must be registered voters and live within District No. 2, which encompasses the basic corridor of the Granite Falls city limits from Lake Gardner to Saratoga to Alder Avenue.

Last outdoor movie in Marysville
The last showing in Marysville’s Popcorn in the Parks outdoor summer movie series is scheduled for tonight.
The movie “Enchanted” is scheduled to be shown at dusk at Cedarcrest Golf Course, 6810 83rd Place NE. The event is sponsored by VerizonFIOS.
