Count the cussing in top Oscar films
According to PSVratings Inc., a company that grades movies and video games for parents based on profanity, sex and violent content, the Oscar-nominated movie “Aviator” features 125 uses of profanity.
Other rated movies nominated for best picture at Sunday’s Academy Awards include “Sideways,” with 118 curse words; “Ray,” with 95; “Million Dollar Baby,” with 53; and “Finding Neverland,” with four.
The best picture winner with the most profanity of all time goes to “Platoon,” with 337 curse words.

If you tune in, you won’t be alone. According to Nielsen Media Research, the 2004 broadcast received a 26 percent average household rating, with more than 43 million viewers. It was the third highest-rated telecast behind the Super Bowl, with a 41.4 household rating, and the finale of “Friends,” with a 29.6 rating.
Journalism contest deadline Tuesday
The entry deadline is Tuesday for submissions to the second annual High School Journalism Awards Competition at Washington State University.
The competition, sponsored by the Edward R. Murrow School of Communications, will select winners in five writing categories.
