The Civil Air Patrol has a new home, thanks to Everett Community College.
The local CAP squadron was given a meeting space with classrooms, restrooms, a lunchroom and heat, at the Everett Community Collage Aviation Maintenance Technology School at Paine Field.
They meet at 7 p.m. Tuesdays, public affairs officer Bill Fenton said.
From about 1998 to 2000, the Paine Field Eagles occupied a corner of a hangar at Paine Field. It was cramped, but at least it had a bathroom and was heated.
“We then had to move to a building that the National Guard had and were moved out of there in about six months to another hangar owned by the Goodrich Company,” Fenton said.
“The squad worked very hard to make it a headquarters. The drawback was there were no restrooms and very little heat. We were thankful to the Goodrich Company for letting us use the building for the length of time we had it. This new building is really heaven-sent.”
