The nonprofit Northwest Organization for Animal Help seeks volunteers to assist in the upkeep and care of animals at its animal adoption center off I-5 east of Stanwood.
NOAH needs kennel technicians, animal socializers, adoption counselors, dog walkers, trainers and receptionists.

During the Evergreen State Fair, Community Transit has increased the frequency of its routes to the fair’s front gate.
Parking is free at Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave, and at the Snohomish park-and-ride lot, Highway 9 and Bickford Avenue. Bus fare is $1 for adults, 60 cents for youths ages 6 to 18 and 30 cents for seniors 65 and older.

Legendary Northwest clown J.P. Patches will perform at 2 p.m. on the fair’s Courtyard Stage.
The 4-H’s advanced dog agility show will be at 3 p.m.; Alaskan pig races are at 1:30, 3 and 6 p.m.; open-mike karaoke will be on the family fun stage starting at 7 p.m.; and there will be a fruit pie bake-off all day.
Rocker Peter Frampton will perform at 7:30 p.m. at the grandstand, preceded by the winner of the “Evergreen Idol” contest at 7:10 p.m. Tickets are $28.

A public hearing on threats to national parks and forests is at 6:30-8:30 tonight in the Shoreline Room at the Shoreline Conference Center, 18560 First Ave. NE, Shoreline.
