Crabby kitty goes big time

History museum offers gift ideas

Shop today or Thursday and get some history treasures.

Books available at the Museum of Snohomish County History include “Mill Town Footlights” by David Dilgard, $19.50; “Lake Stevens: My Town” by Jim Mitchell, $19.95; “The Wholesale Candy Company” by Robert Watters, $10.99; “Collected Memories: Recollections of Alvin B. Pettersen,” $14.95; and “Voices From Everett’s First Century,” $19.95.

You’ll also find wine glasses, plates, postcards and other gifts. The museum is open 1-4 p.m. today through Friday this week at 1913 Hewitt Ave. in Everett.

Victims group seeks volunteers

The group Families &Friends of Missing Persons &Violent Crime Victims needs volunteers to offer support, crisis intervention, courtroom support and referrals to victims, families and friends of violent crimes.

A 40-hour victim advocate training program will be Jan 15, 16, 19, 22 and 23. For more information, call Karen at 800-346-7555.

Holiday closures coming Saturday

Saturday is Christmas Day. Here are some resulting closures:

Government: Federal, state and local offices will be closed.

Post offices: Closed.

Commerce: Banks and numerous businesses will be closed.

Transportation: Community Transit: All routes to Boeing’s Everett plant have been canceled from Friday until Jan. 3. Regular Saturday schedule Christmas Day. Everett Transit will be on a Sunday schedule Christmas Day. It’s the last day for the fall ferry schedule.

The Herald: Classified and reception will be closed, but customer service (delivery) phones will be open 7-11:30 a.m. Christmas Day at 425-339-3200.
