Remember Pearl Harbor on Tuesday
Several communities will honor Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on Tuesday.
Dec. 7 is dedicated as a day to remember those who died in the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor in 1941. The attack, in which more than 2,400 Americans died, led to the United States’ entry into World War II.
* A ceremony is planned by the Snohomish County Central Memorial Committee at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery Chapel, 4505 Broadway in Everett.
* Camano Action for a Rural Environment offers “Eternal Vigilance is the Price of Liberty” at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Terry’s Corner Fire Station, 525 E. North Camano Drive, Camano Island.
* Pearl Harbor survivors will be honored at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Naval Station Everett aboard the USS Rodney M. Davis. The ship is hosting the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
Pearl Harbor survivor Glenn Nichols of Whidbey Island said flags should be flown at half-staff Tuesday until sunset.
Talk to others about peace
Everett Peace Action meets for a casual catered event at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.
There will be a short meeting at 7:15, followed by a program by a speaker from the Seattle Palestinian Solidarity Committee who has spent time in the Palestinian territories and Israel.
Help seniors fulfill their wishes
South County Senior Center offers a program called Elders’ Last Wish at 10 a.m. Tuesday at 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds.
Get ideas about how to bring joy to a terminally diagnosed elder, similar to the Make a Wish Foundation.
Wishes might include a night at the opera, a cruise through the San Juan Islands or lunch with an old friend.
