As a benefit for the Northwest Organization for Animal Help, or NOAH, Merrill Gardens will host an animal day 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at 9802 48th Drive NE in Marysville.
Guests and events include:
* Pet communicator Joy Turner, who will give “readings.”
* Pet and people massages by Bridget.
* Mary Lowry, who writes the Animal Crackers column for The Herald.
* Obedience demonstrations by the Canine Behavior Center.
* NOAH cat adoptions.
* Gift-basket raffles and prizes for best-dressed pet, pet and owner look-alikes, and best talent or trick.
Jay Buhner will be shearing heads
The first 1,000 fans through the gates at the Everett AquaSox game today will receive a stadium seat cushion, courtesy of Sprint.
Future member of the Seattle Mariners Hall of Fame Jay Buhner will assume barbershop duties Friday for the team’s first Buhner Buzz Night. All fans who take the plunge and have their heads shaved will receive a free ticket to the game. The first 1,000 kids through the gates will receive a Buhner bobblehead doll.
Latino Heritage Night is Saturday, with former Mariner second baseman Julio Cruz doing some play-by-play.
Volunteers needed for Everett schools
Everett Public Schools needs volunteers one to two days a week in the communications office. Volunteers will do general office duties including filing, helping with large mailings, materials distribution and data entry.
