Dance to Gypsy funk Wednesday
Sister Monk performs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of Music on the Plaza lunchtime concert series.
The concert is on the Snohomish County campus at 3000 Rockefeller Ave. in Everett.
Sister Monk is known across the country for its unusual mix of diverse instruments and a sound some have called Gypsy funk.
The lunchtime concerts run Wednesdays through Aug. 20.
Bring your lunch or grab a burger or brat hot off the grill. Kettle corn, gourmet ice cream and fresh-cut flowers from Hmong growers will also be available.
Soroptimist sale supports services
Soroptimist of Everett offers a garage sale to raise funds for programs to benefit women and children.
The sale is 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Trinity Episcopal Church, 2301 Hoyt Ave., Everett.
The Everett Soroptimist Club provides funding for women to get education and training to help them support their families, college scholarships for high school students and other assistance to help women and girls.
Children’s group needs members
The Children’s Commission seeks new members.
It’s a group of 25, including two youth, appointed by the Snohomish County Council, to advocate for children.
Meetings are held at 4 p.m. the last Wednesday of the month. Applicants must be willing to serve a four-year term.

Senior center seeks volunteers
The South County Senior Center needs volunteers to help seniors at its center in Edmonds. The center’s thrift store needs both clerks and cashiers. Retail experience is helpful, training will be provided.
The center is also looking for paid and volunteer instructors for watercolor classes, a licensed massage therapist for seated chair massage, a leader for the diabetes support group, an instructor for a self-publishing writers group and computer instructors.
South County Senior Center is at 220 Railroad Ave., Edmonds.
