16 months of work leads to China
Several local girls are among 40 who earned a trip to China as a result of the Girl Scouts Totem Council’s program to record the history of the Puget Sound Asian-Pacific American community in Girl Scouts.
They are seeing Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai. The group’s 16-month preparation included learning Chinese phrases, counting in Chinese, etiquette and customs.
They plan to visit an orphanage, meet Girl Guides in Hong Kong and return home this week. Travelers include Wendi and Katherine Hale of Everett, Jaqueline Matteson of Oak Harbor and Amanda Pool of Mountlake Terrace.

It’s open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. You can get orders to go for the ferry ride.
