Snohomish County Auditor Bob Terwilliger will talk about changes voters will see when voting in the primary election this fall at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the small community room at Bakerview Hall, 1401 Poplar St., Everett.
Terwilliger will answer any questions that voters may have about elections and voting.
In Olympia on Thursday, Secretary of State Sam Reed offers an open house to explain the initiative process. Observers can see how the state verifies signatures and qualifies initiatives for the 2004 general election 8-11 a.m. Thursday at 1007 Washington St. SE, Olympia.
Day of Caring seeks volunteers
It’s time to register for the United Way of Snohomish County’s Day of Caring 2004. This year’s theme is “Working Together Matters.” This one-day event brings together volunteer teams who tackle community projects, such as painting a clubhouse or weeding a park. If you have a worthy project, let them know by July 30. Team registration is due Aug. 10. Registration information can be found on the United Way Web site, www.uwsc.org, or call 425-921-3459.
Peter Henning Jr. talks old Stanwood
Learn about Peter Henning, an early Stanwood settler, at a meeting of the Stanwood Area Historical Society at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the public hall of the Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center, 27112 102nd Ave. NW.
Peter Henning Jr., a retired Bellevue resident, will be at the meeting to discuss a book by David Buerge called “The Builder – The Life of Peter Henning, 1868-1955” and will share memories about his family.
The Henning family contributed to logging, railroading, mining, bridge building, banking, development, construction, politics and dairy farming in the early Northwest.

That was LaToya London who was singing in a photo on Page A1 Monday that was taken at the “American Idols Live” performance at the Everett Events Center Saturday evening. The entertainer was misidentified in a caption.
