For those of you saving state quarters, your work is half over.
Michigan, no. 26, will debut Jan. 26.
It is estimated that 130 million Americans are collecting in the 50-State Quarters Program.
In the 10-year event, U.S. quarter-dollar designs change five times each year. More than 21 billion state quarters have been minted since 1999. The quarters are used in classrooms as part of lesson plans that can be downloaded free from the United States Mint Web site at http://usmint.gov.
If you are bored between now and Jan. 26 when the new quarter debuts, go back and make sure your first 25 state quarters include the D for Denver mint and P for Philadelphia mint stamps.
The Washington state quarter is due to be released in 2007.
The Forest Park Swim Center in Everett will close for maintenance Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
