Patients have been notified that The Everett Clinic will close at 3 p.m. Friday so the staff can attend a memorial service for Dr. William MacDonald, the former president of the clinic who died Feb. 19 in Hawaii.

The service will be at 3:30 p.m. at the Everett Events Center, 2000 Hewitt Ave. Hundreds are expected to attend.

The Everett Clinic Walk-In Clinics will reopen by 6 p.m. Friday.

A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 1 p.m. today at St. Mary Magdalen Parish, 8717 Seventh Ave., Everett.

If you see antique cars near the new Snohomish County parking garage on Friday, enjoy the show from the road.

It’s a Classic Car ceremony to precede the public opening of the garage at 6 a.m. Monday. On Friday, county employees will get to drive their vintage vehicles into the garage for a test run. Employees may drive around the garage Friday afternoon, but everyone else has to wait until Monday.

Edmonds Mayor Gary Haakenson wasn’t for sale last week. There was a better reason for him to sit in the window at the Edmonds Bookshop.

During the "Read in the Window" event, folks took turns reading in the front window to show the importance of books. Haakenson took the first shift.

Edmonds Elementary School librarian Paul Borchert and fifth-grader Simone Potter also read in the window.

Edmonds Bakery provided cookies, and Tully’s Coffee offered hot chocolate.

In the spirit of the month, Edmonds Elementary offers a Read-a-Thon assembly Monday, and Westgate Elementary School plans a Dr. Seuss celebration on Tuesday.

The Lake Stevens Family Center hosts an arts and crafts program called Kreative Kids 4:15-5:15 p.m. Tuesdays at the Lake Stevens Community-Senior Center, 1808 Main St. An Our Towns item on Wednesday listed the wrong day.
