Providence Everett Medical Center is participating in Project Child Safe and is distributing 400 free gun locks.
The gun locks, one per customer, are available 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting today at the Colby campus, 1320 Colby Ave., or at the Pacific Campus, 913 Pacific Ave., at the main entry Volunteer Information Desks or volunteer offices.
The locks retail for $12, but thanks to Project Child Safe, the Washington State Patrol and Providence Everett Medical Center, they are free while supplies last.
The YMCA of Snohomish County has launched a redesigned Web site, ymca-snoco.org. It’s user friendly with easy navigation.
It also has a new search engine and improved graphics. Visitors can look for several different programs at one time or at different branches, and the site is designed to meet those needs.
Susan Brown, YMCA vice president of finance, said money has been set aside since 2001 for Web development, so staff was hired to lead the project and contract with a local firm.
On the new site, find program and service information, volunteer opportunities, classes, job postings and a new teen section.
Everett-based Luminous Corp. donated half the cost of its work.
