Vanessa Reid, a student at Arlington High School, will be the special guest at a 1 p.m. party today at Paine Field Airport in Everett.
The 14-year-old’s parents left a generous donation at a Paine Field barrel for the Volunteers of America food bank.
When the barrel was stuffed, Dave Goldsworthy, maintenance supervisor for Paine Field Airport, did some investigating and found out who left the food.
Vanessa collected the food from her neighborhood as a Girl Scout project in pursuit of a badge. Her parents left 214 pounds of food at Paine Field. To thank Vanessa and Troop 2132, they are receiving a party and tour of the airport, museum and fire station today.
They also will enjoy cake and ice cream.
Mothers Against WASL (Washington Assessment of Student Learning) plan a discussion about the test Wednesday night in Snohomish.

The group is planning a walk in Olympia on April 19.
Today is a special day for the Scottish. On April 6, 1320, the Declaration of Arbroath, the Scottish Declaration of Independence, was signed.
Did you know that almost half of the signers of our Declaration of Independence were of Scottish descent?
The governors of nine of the original 13 states were of Scottish ancestry, too.
On April 6, National Tartan Day, hug a Scotsman.
