The Seattle librarian and model for the Nancy Pearl Librarian action figure sold at Archie McPhee &Co. in Seattle will speak at noon today at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave., as part of the 2004 Koffski Program series.
Bring a brown-bag lunch to munch as you hear Pearl’s recommendations for the best in fiction and nonfiction books. Pearl is the author of the recent bestseller “Book Lust: Recommended Reading for Every Mood, Moment and Reason.”
In addition to being director of the Washington Center for the Book at the Seattle Public Library, she does weekly book reviews on public radio and is a past recipient of the Public Library Association’s Allie Beth Martin Award.
Granite Falls is changing its school calendar. The Granite Falls High School Musical Feast is no longer planned for March 27-28.
It is listed on the school calendar as a dinner show on March 27 and a dessert show on March 28. Because of scheduling problems, the dinner show has been moved to May 15 and the dessert show to May 16, both at the high school.
Tickets are $10 for the dinner show and $6 for the dessert show. Tickets will be available at the high school office or choir and band students beginning the last week of April.
The Everett Cultural Commission wants to hear your ideas on themes for its winter 2006 and 2007 lecture series.
The theme this year is “A Tour of Italy,” with lectures featuring different aspects of Italian art and culture. The 2005 theme will be “Asian Influences in the Pacific Northwest.”
