When the maternity unit for Providence Everett Medical Center was on the third floor of the Colby Campus, the hallway was decorated with cloud and balloon wall hangings that parents bought to commemorate their child’s birth.
When the maternity ward moved to the Providence Everett Pavilion for Women and Children a year and a half ago, they didn’t have space to use the display. The birth and family education department has been trying to return the clouds and balloons to their appropriate families.
The hospital identified hundreds of families by sending out letters and by looking up the child’s name in a computer system, but it still has about 200 unclaimed clouds and balloons.
