Perhaps there is only one thing nicer than having your son selected to attend the U.S. Military Academy.
His younger brother made the cut too.
Cadet Axel Wolff, son of Dr. Peter and Ruth Wolff of Arlington, recently completed Cadet Basic Training at the academy. He joins his older brother, Morgan, class of 2005.
Axel Wolff graduated from Archbishop Murphy High School in 2003. He plans to graduate from West Point in 2007 and be commissioned a second lieutenant in the Army.
The Everett Public Library’s 14-foot noble fir in the main lobby is decorated with miniaturized versions of books and book bags.
"We thought we should have something book-related on the tree this year," said Mark Nesse, library director.
Throughout the year the library sponsors author talks and book signings. Books by mystery writer Earl Emerson and true-crime writer Ann Rule are just a few of those hanging on the tree.
Also, you can enjoy holiday refreshments at the Main and Evergreen Branch libraries on Monday.
The Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross offers a 10 percent discount until Christmas Eve on all health and safety products, and registration fees for classes including CPR, first aid and baby-sitting.
