Tonight, officers in Snohomish County will participate in "Night of 1,000 Stars." The 1,000 stars represent the badges of officers throughout the state working to catch drunk and drug-impaired drivers.
Last year, the special patrol resulted in 339 drunken driving charges, including 34 in Snohomish County. This patrol will be in remembrance of all victims of drunken driving and their families.
Six Snohomish County victims will be represented and their pictures and stories featured in a flier that will be distributed by officers. Victims include: Phillip Ohlson, Shannon Chavez, Charles Wickizer, James Cole Jr., Aaron Harvey and Kyle Gilbert. Memorial tiles with their names were unveiled in September on the Snohomish County DUI Victims Memorial Wall at McCollum Park in Everett.
