Great news for Mukilteo residents, ferry traffic and area businesses: If Mother Nature cooperates, the state Department of Transportation and KLB Construction will open the newly widened four-lane Mukilteo Speedway by Monday.
The new lanes will improve safety and traffic flow, and decrease congestion on the heavily traveled route. Environmental improvements such as better storage and treatment of storm-water runoff will improve water quality and benefit salmon.
Finishing touches will be completed through the end of the year. Motorists will continue to experience some delays over the next few months as crews complete sidewalks and bike lanes.
