The public will get its first inside look at the Everett Events Center during an open house 11 a.m.-4 p.m. today. Entertainment will range from clowns to Indonesian dancing. What you’ll see is the result of months of planning by the city of Everett, the Everett Public Facilities District, the Everett Silvertips and Global Spectrum, the company that is managing the center.
Groups responsible for the "It’s a whole new game, downtown Everett" banners that you’ll see on Hewitt and Colby avenues include the city of Everett, the Downtown Everett Association, the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce, the Silvertips, Global Spectrum, Henry Cogswell College, KRKO radio, Luminous, The Herald and Upside Downtown.
You can go online for news about the Everett Events Center at www.everett eventscenter.com. The Web site features event information and online ticket sales.
Until the teachers strike ends, Marysville School District offices will be open
9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Parents who want to enroll their child in school or who have business with the district may visit at that time.
At 6 this morning, the aircraft carrier USS Constellation will arrive at Restoration Point in Bremerton. The Foss Maritime Co. tug Lauren Foss towed the carrier from San Diego. The Constellation is being placed on inactive status in Bremerton. The Lauren Foss will next tow the carrier USS Midway from Bremerton to Oakland to be readied for the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum.
