A benefit wine tasting, auction and dinner is planned for Patty and Theo Papadopoulos at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Monte Cristo Hotel, 1507 Wall St., Everett.
The couple own Theopatras Greek and American Deli, 2512 Colby Ave. in Everett. Theo Papadopoulos is recovering from heart suggery, and Patty Papadopoulos recently lost her leg in a motorcycle accident. The couple have no medical insurance.
Tickets for the benefit are $50, available at the door.
Don’t recycle your Sunday newspaper yet. There is a nomination form in the sports section for the eighth annual Real Heroes Breakfast for the Snohomish County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
If you know a local hero, check out the form and nominate the person for a special award.
Alfy’s Pizza has been named the official pizza provider for the Everett Events Center.
Pizza will be available in several concession stands at the arena. Other local restaurants that will offer food and beverages at the arena include the Flying Pig Brewing Co., Scuttlebutt Brewing Co., Mukilteo’s Diamond Knot Brewery and Ale House, and Ivar’s.
The first Alfy’s was opened by Bruce Olson in Everett in 1973. Today there are 12 stores from Lynnwood to Burlington, employing more than 400 people.
Thanks to Home Depot and Nextel, enough tickets were purchased Friday so the Seattle Seahawks football game could be televised on Sunday.
The YWCA of Snohomish County and Campfire USA are on a list of charities that regularly receive the tickets from such purchases.
