Before you plop wild-eyed contact lenses in your eyes for Halloween, remember they are illegal if you don’t have a prescription.
Decorative contact lenses can cause serious eye injury, or even blindness, according to the Food and Drug Administration.
You should only use decorative lenses that are properly prescribed and fitted by an eye-care professional, the FDA says.
Avoid those sold at flea markets, beauty shops and through the Internet. The FDA reports dozens of corneal ulcers — abrasions that can lead to vision-threatening infections — and other eye injuries linked to those products.
For more information, call 800-FDA-1088.
If Waste Management has dropped off a big blue recycling cart at your residence, this is the week to begin using it.
Put all of your recyclables into the one cart, including plastic bottles, dairy tubs, newspapers and milk and juice cartons.
Take the cart to the curb every other week and face it in the right direction, according to the instructions on the lid.
