United Way of Snohomish County has begun a new grant cycle.
Grants are available to nonprofit health and human services providers in Snohomish County.
Previously, United Way of Snohomish County grants were for one year. The new grants will be for 2 1/2 years, beginning in July.

A party is planned at the Children’s Museum in Snohomish County from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3013 Colby Ave. in Everett.
Make blowers, party hats and poppers, create your own fireworks show and construct a Chinese New Year dragon.
Admission is $3.50 for everyone 18 months and older.
Families and Friends of Violent Crime Victims will begin a 40-hour victim advocate training series Saturday.
Victim advocates provide support, crisis intervention, courtroom help and referrals to victims, families and friends of violent crimes including homicide, assault, robbery and missing adults where foul play is suspected.

Snohomish County Fire District 1 reminds folks that when the Christmas tree begins to drop needles, it’s an indication the tree is beginning to dry out and should be removed.
Do not attempt to discard the tree by burning it in the fireplace.
