Plant sale at Whittier Elementary
Whittier Elementary School’s annual plant sale is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at 916 Oakes Ave. in Everett.
There will be bedding plants, annuals, native plants, tomato plants, vegetable starts, raffles and cookies. Proceeds will be used to send students to outdoor science camp.

The Pilchuck Audubon Society meets at 7 p.m. Friday to learn about the environment and birds of Alaska.
Taldi Walter, Alaska Field Coordinator for the National Audubon Society, presents a free slide show about the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. Meet at 7 p.m. Friday at the Lauterbach Room at the Snohomish Fire Station, 1525 Ave. D in Snohomish.

Everett Astronomical Society celebrates International Astronomy Day this week. Visit the Everett Library Saturday at 2702 Hoyt Ave. to see displays.
At dusk Friday and Saturday, telescopes will be positioned at Harborview Park, 1621 Mukilteo Blvd., Everett.
It’s World Red Cross Day
The International Committee of the Red Cross is preparing to aid cyclone victims in Myanmar. Appropriate, as this is World Red Cross Day.
The Snohomish County Chapter’s International Services Committee is educating people about the devastating effects of measles and malaria.
