Soroptimists help female soldiers
Lori Powlas, chairwoman of Project GI Jane, reports that her Everett Soroptimist group has fulfilled a mission.
They’ve been collecting toiletry items for female soldiers in Iraq.
“We had so many donations that we sent 30 boxes to the unit in December,” Powlas said. “We’re having a meeting today to package and ship probably another 25 or 30 boxes of donations.”
They got goods from individuals, companies, Red Hat clubs, Mary Kay ladies and others.
“Our goal was to raise the women’s morale a little by providing them with better, more feminine items than they can purchase in a little PX set up mostly for men. I think we’re going to give them a real boost when they see all of this stuff.”
Packages will go to the 129th Combat Service Support Battalion, Camp Al Taqaddum.
