Mill Creek library group offers grants
Friends of the Mill Creek Library are awarding grants of up to $2,000 for literacy education such as seminars, classes, conferences or other continuing education efforts.
Qualifications:
Individuals should be actively engaged in providing literacy services or literacy education.
Applicants must live or work in or otherwise have ties to the greater Mill Creek area.
Mail a resume and a cover letter detailing interest in the grant, postmarked by April 15, to Grants Committee, Friends of the Mill Creek Library, 15429 Bothell-Everett Highway, Mill Creek, WA 98012.

Monroe seeks emergency help
Monroe’s emergency management office is looking for volunteers.
Needed are people who can help with amateur radio communications, answering phones, data entry, community preparedness programs and clerical work.

New Lions Club seeks members
A newly formed Lions Club based in Seven Lakes is looking for members.
The club plans to meet at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Meetings will be at the Lake Goodwin Community Club, 17323 42nd Ave. NW in Stanwood.

Register for Volunteer Expo
Organizations and agencies in Snohomish County that use volunteers are invited to register for the eighth annual Snohomish County Volunteer Expo, set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 26 at the Everett Mall.
A registration form is at www.uwsc.org. Click on “Volunteer Center” and then “2008 Volunteer Expo.” Download “2008 Expo Registration Form.”
The expo kicks off National Volunteer Week in the county. More than 70 organizations are expected, and they will be looking for volunteers.
