USS Lincoln heads to California waters
The warship USS Abraham Lincoln is scheduled to leave Thursday morning for another training session in Southern California waters.
The ship is expected to hook up with the air wing, which will deploy with the aircraft carrier and two of Naval Station Everett’s other ships, the destroyers USS Momsen and USS Shoup, for the training.
The ships are expected to return to Everett in February and gear up for a lengthy deployment, probably to the Persian Gulf area in the western Indian Ocean.
The deployment will be the first for the Lincoln since it came out of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard seven months ago after undergoing a major overhaul.
The ship’s crew grows from about 3,000 to about 5,000 when the air wing comes aboard.
Free parking for Silvertips games
Everpark Garage, at 2815 Hoyt Ave. in Everett, offers free parking on Everett Silvertips game nights.
Everett Transit also runs a shuttle for 50 cents from Everett Station, 3201 Smith Ave., to Comcast Arena at Everett Events Center when the Tips play.
No fare is collected on the return trip, and parking at Everett Station is ample and free.
The first shuttle of the evening leaves Everett Station 1 hour and 20 minutes before game time, with service every 15 minutes. The last shuttle leaves about 10 minutes after the puck hits the ice.
There are two return trips from the events center. The first trip departs about 10 minutes after the game ends.
